We decided to make a trip to Ohio before Justin's parents came back from their mission and his brother, Jason, moved with his family to St. George. We weren't quite sure what to expect but we were on full flights and luckily sat together on the longer leg of the journey, making a stop in Chicago. We got there in time to see a beautiful sunset and to watch the boys play some pickleball. We saw the mission office, but no one was in that morning. Terri and I watched the kids while the guys golfed and Cassandra was at work. I got to meet Baby Silas and he is so cute! We explored a shallow river and saw some weird blue bugs. We fed giant fish at their pond and saw (and heard) frogs. We went on a long drive, making a short and memorable stop in Amish country for lunch. I got my phone out to take a picture of the beautiful rolling hills and it just happened to be when this horse and buggy drove by. We met someone they knew to tell us about the area and the Kirtland Temple. He said that when they're doing tours he loves when they open the curtains at the visitors center and you can see the temple through the trees so I walked over there and it truly was a beautiful sight. It was great to learn so much; I am sad we didn't get to go inside. The missionaries were giving virtual tours but it was not open to the public like it usually is. A couple months later we took a virtual tour with our family and it was amazing. We ate a delicious pizza dinner at a park where Jason was playing pickleball. These Buckeyes were so good. We hung out at the house where Maielle pulled off all the flower petals, took lots of selfies and pictures of Silas with my phone, and then ate donuts when the guys came back from wherever they were with them. I liked the orange and Justin liked the PB&J. We took a little bike ride around downtown Columbus. One minute you were in the city and the next you were in the trees. After we returned the rented bikes Maielle was tired of riding her bike so I rode it for her. Brent and Terri took the kids and the rest of us went and ate at Melt and then saw the football stadium at The Ohio State University. Justin had a mac and cheese grilled cheese, and I had the chicken and waffles grilled cheese. It was delicious! The stadium is huge. We had to stunt there, even though it was difficult with no shoes and a belly full of deliciousness. Maielle became my buddy over those few days and posed us for a picture before we left the next morning, putting the blanket on me and having me give two thumbs up. On the longer leg of our return trip we were both assigned middle seats a few rows from each other. The flight was really full except for the seats on either side of me. They started closing the doors of the plane and I was still alone in my row so I sent a text to Weid telling his to come up and join me. Luckily he still had his phone on and instead of being in middle seats we ended up having a whole row to ourselves. The kids had painted these rocks that week while staying with Grammy and Grandpa. My cousin Nate was in town so we ended up there again the next day. The kids were happy to go back.
Hap kept helping me take care of the Memmott's yard. Their raspberries are amazing and have made me look into getting plants. I took the three little kids to the doctor for well visits. They are all healthy and growing. Brynlee was 49 inches tall and weighed 51 pounds, which is below 1% for her age. Lacey was 47.5 inches tall and weighed 43 pounds, about 10th percentile. Hap was 44 inches tall (25%) and 36 pounds (3%). I tried making cookies with all the sunflower seeds we got in lunches but they wouldn't really stick in the cookies and the kids wouldn't eat them that way. I thought they were good. Hap enjoyed his last morning home with just us by falling on my bed. He started kindergarten and loved it. Brynlee and Lacey were happy to show him how to ride the bus and how to get to class. He had a great day and told me all about it. I found squash bugs and eggs at the Memmott's so I helped them out by getting rid of what I could find. Their yard is so pretty; look at the...
