The Weidmans

I felt like this last weekend was the longest and shortest weekend ever. We were plenty busy. We had a ward party on Friday night that was a lot of fun, and Justin finished up the entertainment center so that he could put it in our house sometime over the weekend. Justin had to work Saturday morning for a little while, and then his parents came to visit us. We had a nice lunch and then not long after we got home I was able to go and watch the Young Women's General Conference meeting. It was very uplifting. By then, the entertainment center was in our house. It is huge! And I must say that he did a very nice job. He stained and put the whole thing together almost entirely by himself (I helped a little bit putting it together). It's not totally finished, it still needs doors on the bottom half, but it looks really good. And it is huge! The light on the tv is my eye level! I am very proud of my husband, especially since he's never made anything before. Anyways, then Sunday ...

Heidi had so much fun decorating Easter eggs! For the last couple of weeks, Heidi just loves drawing on anything that we let her, so she had so much fun coloring on the eggs. But then she would look down at the newspaper and see that it would be much easier to draw on so she would put down the egg and just draw on the newspaper. It was so fun for Heidi to see the eggs change color as we put them in the dye. We only did one of each color, since we aren't really huge boiled egg fans, but it was plenty for our little family. And then, how could we go without making our traditional Easter egg nests? And I just couldn't let my little girl not have a new Easter dress. She looked so cute for Easter. I love the color yellow, and Heidi looks so good in it. It was a wonderful day for me, because it was the one year anniversary of being able to take Heidi in public. Last Easter was her first time ever going to church, and I was so happy that I could do it again this Easter. It has always...

Heidi had her 18 month check-up today. And it is so nice to know that she is healthy. She's not quite on the charts for her weight, being 19.8 lbs. (Almost time to turn the car seat forward.) But amazingly enough she is now in the 20th percentile in height, measuring in at 30 1/4 inches. According to the doctor, Heidi is making her own growth chart, which is fine just as long as she keeps growing. The sad thing about going to the doctor now is that Heidi knows it's not going to be fun. Once she had to lay down my happy little girl disappeared and the tears just started pouring out. She calmed down about a minute after the doctor left, but then a few minutes later the nurse came in to give her some shots and she cried even harder than before. I felt so bad for my little girl. But it's over now. At least for the next 6 months.

This last weekend we went out to Utah, and one of the things that we did was hike the Y. When we thought of the idea, I didn't really think anything of it. I've never had any problem hiking it before. Once we started hiking, it was much harder on my 7 1/2 month pregnant body than I thought it would be. It was more the altitude than anything, there was not enough air for me to be breathing for two people. I went much slower than I wanted to, but I made it to the top. And Heidi was carried up and was on the Y for her first time. It was so beautiful up there. We love Provo, and especially BYU! Heidi and her dad on the trail. At the top. Heidi and Mom on the Y. The entertainment center is not quite finished, but at least it looks like it will be something soon. It is going to be huge! I am so proud of Weid for working so hard on this project to make something nice for our home. It still needs all the shelves, doors on the bottom, and the front decorative pieces to be finished, but I'm so happy that it is more than just pieces of wood that I thought I would post a picture. Heidi looks so small in it!

Heidi turned 18 months old on Saturday, so she went to Nursery for her first time yesterday. I stayed in there with her for a while because there was only one other adult in there and like 10 kids and she couldn't remember any of the kid's names. Finally someone else came in and so I left, but while I was there she did ok, as long as no one took her toy from her. She is really not good at sharing. Hopefully she will learn here in the next two months because that's all she's got left. She would just stand there and scream if someone took the toy she was playing with away from her. I left when it was story time and she seemed to like sitting at the table with everyone else. She colored a cute little picture, and it was much easier for me during church so hooray! I am a little upset that there is now yellow marker on her dress though. I hope it washes out. Anyways, yay for being 18 months old!

For about the last month, Weid has been working on building us a new entertainment center. I wasn't too happy about the idea at first, but after seeing all the work that he has put into it, and how proud he is of his project, I must say that it's growing on me. It will be a lot of fun for us to have something in our house that he designed and built with his own two hands. Weid staining the wood. And yes, that is the grass because there really is no snow here. Heidi is just into everything. She loves pulling out everything out of every cupboard that she can get into. She can now reach a few more things than she could before, and that is why our new entertainment center is going to be so wonderful. Apparently she likes to climb into things too. I just don't know how I am going to handle two litt...

Saturday was such a wonderful day! Who would have ever thought that BYU would come to us? Well, the Rugby team did. After we got there we heard that it was just the second string, but it was fun anyways even though we got killed. It was our first Rugby game ever, so it took a while to try and understand what was going on, but after someone tried to explain it to us better it was a lot of fun. It was the craziest thing I have ever seen! I still don't understand the game very well, but I would watch another game in a second if I were given the opportunity. And the best part was that the weather was wonderful. It was probably the mid-sixties when the game started. I wore capris and a short sleeved shirt and it was perfect! Heidi also had a lot of fun running around the entire field, especially after being trapped in the house for the past few months. Heidi ran around the field while the team warmed up. Well, last weekend, Weid went to go and watch his little brother play in his last college basketball game in North Dakota. He had a lot of fun since it was quite the family get together, and was happy to see Jason play because he hasn't been able to for quite a while. As for me and Heidi, we went to Utah to see family so that we weren't lonely here in Colorado. Heidi had fun playing with her cousins, and her grandma and grandpa. While we were there, I was able to be there when Jamie (my youngest sister) went on her first official date. But that didn't really mean anything because with the new driving laws, her date couldn't drive with her in the car, so she had to drive over to his house. And then his mom drove them on their date.
