The Weidmans

Our cute little princess is ready to go trick-or-treating! Last night we carved pumpkins to get ready for Halloween. Heidi watched and walked around playing in the dirt. Tonight, we are just going to take Heidi to a couple of the neighbor's houses to give her the experience, and then we'll just have a nice night home together. My pumpkin is a nice jack-o-lantern, and Weid did the Y on Y mountain (of course).

Well, as you know, our life revolves around BYU football. At the last home game, we had a lot of fun even though it was snowing and very cold. Don't worry, I left Heidi with her grandparents. But earlier that day I was able to take Heidi to my little sister's state championship soccer game. She is a senior, and it was her third year in a row going to the state championship game. Unfortunately they got second every year, but that is quite the accomplishment. I had Heidi bundled up pretty good and she slept through most of the game so we had a wonderful time. And my sister, Mindy, played really well even though they didn't win. Heidi before the game with Justin's dad, and after the game with my mom.

Heidi has started to act much older now that she is walking around everywhere. A couple weeks ago it seemed like she was never really going to show much interest in walking, and now she walks everywhere. It has been nice to be able to put some shoes on her and take her outside without getting too dirty. And she has also become quite a bit more curious this past little while. She thinks that the world is hers. The other morning while I was paying bills and other things I heard Heidi getting into the breakfast cupboard, which she always does, so I didn't think anything of it. A few minutes later I heard something that sounded a little strange so I looked over and she was playing with some poptarts...no big deal. I thought that she couldn't get into them. Well a minute later I stopped hearing the sound of the wrapper so I got up and saw Heidi eating the poptarts. It was so funny. She is getting so smart! And so cute! Last Saturday we had a little ward party and so we dressed Heidi...

We went to the doctor today for Heidi's check-up and she is doing really well. At 13 months she weighed in at 18 lbs. 1 oz. and was 28 1/4 inches tall. She got two shots...one in each leg as I had to hold her arms up so she wouldn't reach down for the needles. It was so sad. And then we had to go and get some chest x-rays done so that we could make sure everything is still in the right place. They like to have them sitting up for the x-rays, so they strapped her in this plastic contraption, like a tube, to keep her upright and not able to move. Her arms had to be above her head, and the only opening was in the front so she could breathe. She was screaming like I had never seen her scream before. It was even harder to watch than the shots. I was so glad when it was over! We'll find out the results in a little while, but we are just hoping that everything is fine. As for good news, in the last few days she has started walking more between things, without being prompted to do ...

What a blessing it was to be at home with my family all weekend, and also a great relief that we didn't have to worry about how our Cougars would play this weekend. It is sad to say, but sometimes I feel that our lives are run by Cougar football. Okay, not really mine and Heidi's so much, but just you know who. Conference was so wonderful. It is so great to hear the leaders of our church talk about things that I know to be true. Some of my favorite things from conference were Elder Wirthlin's talk about charity, and watching him speak with such determination to get through his talk even though he was shaking so badly. And it was wonderful to see his fellow apostle, Elder Nelson, stand beside him and give him the support that he needed. It was a great example of charity through words and actions. And another one of my favorite talks was from Sister Julie Beck. It was so great to hear her talk about motherhood just how I needed to hear it. Because I hear about women who ...

It was so nice to just spend this weekend at home and relax. Weid was able to be in a golf tournament at work on Friday afternoon, so that started the weekend off very well for him. Saturday, Weid went to the temple with the youth while Heidi and I had a nice day at home. Then we watched the BYU football game with some friends who came over, and it was a little more stressful than we like it to be, but it still came out with a happy ending. Sunday was also a very nice day, as you can see by how relaxed Heidi is in this picture. She was watching The Prince of Egypt and loved it! It really was a great weekend.
