Hailey is 4!

Hailey turned 4 years old on her birthday this year.  She is so excited to be 4! We went to the store on her birthday and let her pick a toy that she wanted.  I let her wander every toy aisle and she was trying to decide what she really wanted.  She didn't seem super excited about anything until the second time around the toys when she spotted this Barbie vet bag.  Her eyes lit up and she was so excited!  She loves the new Disney show Doc McStuffins and her favorite book is Barbie I can be a Pet Vet, so this was everything she could have hoped for.  The dog makes noises and Barbie tells you what to do to make it feel better.  She named the dog Lacey because that's what her dog's name is in the Barbie book.  It was kind of pricey ($30) but she was in love and so I let her get that with her money from Grandma and Papa and from us too.  It has totally been worth it!  She loves it! We Skyped my parents while she opened her pre...

The pool is open!

It took quite a bit of work over a few weeks but we opened the pool over the weekend of April 21st.  Our landlord wanted it open so they can show it to sell or rent it.  The weeks leading up to that were spent taking water off and taking out the leaves and other stuff off the tarp that had fallen in. Hailey helped that weekend brushing all the water to the deep end of the pool.  She really wanted me to take a picture of the blossoms on this bright pink bush.  And Brynlee has shown us that she prefers the bouncer over the swing.  She looks so tiny in it! The girls wanted to get in so bad!  Even after they put their feet in and felt that it was cold.  So we let them put their swimsuits on and get in. It was cold!  54 degrees!  It took their breath away, but even after seeing Hailey do it, Heidi jumped in a minute later.  Cougar was smart and just watched.  Then the girls still wanted to play in the water so they jus...

Heidi's music performance

The performance was all of the K-2 classes on Thursday, April 19th.  We were so excited to hear what she has been learning in music class every Tuesday and Thursday.  They had a Christmas performance during school and said that it was just for the students and parents weren't allowed.  So I was so happy to be able to go to this. Heidi was so happy we were there!  Here she is by her artwork of a circus, which was the theme of the night.  Before the performance she was kind of nervous and kind of excited which she shows here by laughing.  She did such a great job when it was her class doing the instruments!  I should have taken a picture of the whole room but I didn't.  It was decorated to be like in a circus tent and all the songs had to do with the circus.  The Kindergarteners were on the left of the stage.  Heidi's class was in the middle row.  It was kind of wild since they were told to dress like a person in the ci...

More interviews

Justin was heading out the door on his way to Bowling Green, Ohio on April 12th, then came back inside and said he got an email offering him the job at BYU!  We were so excited!  But he had also already scheduled to go to Bowling Green State University and Central Washington University that week so he still went to see if maybe those places would be considered as a place for us. Justin drove to Bowling Green after teaching his last section of the OSHA 10 hour Safety Class here and got there around midnight.  We headed to the library to pick up a few books and movies to watch while Dad was gone.  The kids were super excited to also write their names on these papers and have the librarian stick them on the wall.  Theirs are the ones at the very top right above them. Friday was my first full day with the kids by myself.  It turned out just fine, even with Heidi having pictures that day.  Her picture at the school was not the best.  She...

Baby pictures

My friend, Shayla Welling , took some pictures of Brynlee on April 12th, when she was 12 days old.  It took a long time for her to fall asleep, so then it was a little rushed but she still looked cute.  Her face is a lot like Hailey's in that it takes very little movement to show her emotion.

Oh life...

Life with 4 cute kids is so much fun! It's also very tiring.  Cougar loves this book because it has two of his favorite things in one book:  Mickey Mouse and cars/trucks. Poor Hailey and her food allergies.  The sad thing is we don't know exactly what happened this time around.  I debated whether or not to go to lunch bunch that month because the theme was Health Nut.  I wasn't going to go if everyone was bringing a bunch of nut things because of Hailey's allergies, but I asked a friend and said most people are not bringing nut items.  I wanted to get out of the house and so we went.  Hailey was fine until the very end and then it looked like someone accidentally hit her with their toy near her eye.  She started rubbing her eye and just kept rubbing it.  After about a minute she was still rubbing it and said that it hurt.  There was a little girl nearby that had peanut butter all over her hands and face, and all the kids h...

Easter

I love Easter!  So there are quite a few pictures. We went to the annual Easter Egg Hunt at the park near us.  Cougar wouldn't have anything to do with going in the place set up for the little kids to get eggs.  He wouldn't take a single step into it.  I had the helper put a couple eggs in his basket but he wouldn't touch his basket either.  What a silly boy.  He had fun with his little friend, Carter, though.  It is going to be sad to leave our friends when we move.  Hailey was being a little crazy while waiting for her turn to do the egg hunt. Technically Hailey was 3, but we put her in with the 4 year olds so she could run around and grab eggs instead of finding a couple hidden in some hay like they do for the 0-3 year olds.  Such a good idea, she loved it!  She was one of the first ones in there and ran out away from the crowd so she got as many eggs as her basket would hold.  She was especially happy to have foun...

Brynlee's first week

It was so great to be going home!  The food in the hospital was good but I was so bored laying there all day.  I was ready to get on with life with 4 kids. She left the hospital weighing 6 lbs. 3 oz.  Heidi was at school that day.  Hailey was a big helper getting Brynlee home and Cougar was so excited to have Mom home that he was dragging my bag out of the room! Baby Brynlee was so tired most of that week with times of being super alert between.  Weid loves to hold (and take naps with) sleeping babies.  With her being so tired, it made for some difficulty breastfeeding, but she would go one stretch of about 5 hours each night and then go right back to sleep, so I got some good, needed rest.  Heidi wrote this cute paper that week, it's so cute!  She loves to write things all the time. Brynlee went to the doctor at 4 days old.  She weighed 6 lbs. 2.5 oz. and looked a little jaundice.  She was tested and it was low so she...

School, Kites, and Pinkalicious

We finished up March with some fun activities at Heidi's school and some great weather. Tuesday, March 27th was a book fair at Heidi's school and also a night where families could go in the classrooms and see some of the work they have done.  Justin couldn't go that night because he had a dinner at the school for potential PhD students.  He was invited to be there.  I am so excited to get this binder at the end of the school year!  Heidi showed me all of her journal pages (and read every single one to me!).  Each journal page has a drawing and a little writing.  At the beginning of the year the teacher would write what they said and then as the year progressed she wrote her own things.  It is so cute and I can't wait to see it again.  She wrote quite a few entries about strawberry ice cream, which she gets almost every Friday at school.  She really likes it!  We have loved her school!  We let her pick one book to get from...
