The Weidmans

We made the most out of Halloween here. There were quite a few events going on and we wanted to be a part of them. Wednesday, October 26th was our Ward Trunk-or-Treat. Heidi wanted to be a bunny that night, Hailey was a cowgirl and Cougar was a monkey. He did not like his costume at all. Each time I put it on him he cried and he hardly ever cries. It was a lot of fun, just like last year. Our friend let Hailey borrow their cowgirl boots and they were perfect with her outfit. We only had to buy the hat at Dollar Tree and we had everything else for all the costumes. We also borrowed Cougar's. It was perfect. $1 for all 3 kids costumes is not bad at all. The kids had fun throwing the rings on the pegs and fishing in the church. That Thursday Justin flew out for his Grandma's funeral the next day. Here's the whole family together. October 24 th ended up being quite an eventful day for us. I woke up at about 1:00 that morning with Heidi by the bedside with huge eyes and sounding like she was trying to suck air in through a tiny straw. I got her a few drinks of water and she was tired and just wanted to go back to sleep. She didn't sound good at all so Weid got her out of bed and took her outside for 5 or 10 minutes and calmed her down and she sounded a lot better but not good. So they went to the ER for a little while where she ate a popsicle and sounded pretty good and was acting like her regular self. She had a chest x-ray to make sure it wasn't pneumonia (which I was really worried about since I'm always worried about her lungs because of being born with CDH ) and it came back with no signs of pneumonia. They said she had croup which she's never had before and they say that most kids grow out of it by 4, gave her some steroids in a drink of cranberry juice and ginger ale which she real...

Friday, October 21st we went to a Hokie volleyball game. We sat down on the second row so that Weid could get one of the player's attention so they would throw a ball to our cute girls when they announced the starting lineup. It worked perfectly. They threw it to Hailey, but it's for the whole family and Heidi really liked it and wanted a picture with it. Cougar was so cute that night. He kept putting his arms up when I did when they played the YMCA during one of the time outs. Such a cute little guy. No wonder why Hailey can't leave him alone. After a while they wandered down the row and were playing with another little girl that was there. The next day was the VT Homecoming Game. Cougar woke up super early that morning (like 4:30) and so I went back to bed after a little while. Weid came down and at about 8:45 said that we should go to the parade downtown. Heidi's school had a pajama night on October 20 th . It was part of the book fair. Heidi got to pick one book off of her wish list, thanks to the $5 from Grandma Leah for her birthday. She chose Goldilicious . They had a raffle for all parents who wore their pajamas. They also had cookies and milk for the kids in the multi-purpose room and some VT students there to read books. Heidi and Hailey were listening for a little bit until the other kids started messing around with the Purple Panther. They were so excited he was there that they wanted to watch him more than listen to books, which is a rare thing with my kids, especially Hailey. All the kids looked so cute in their pajamas. It was really fun and once again made me glad that this is the school Heidi goes to.

October 15th there was a Fall Festival at the mall in Christiansburg. We went because it was free and there were supposed to be fun things for the kids to do. The girls loved the bouncy house (or dragon) like always! And Cougar looked so cute in his BYU clothes. He was a nice boy and just sat in the stroller. Hailey went on a pony ride! She was super excited and had so much fun! She looked a little nervous in the middle of the ride but I looked at her closer and realized it was because her shoe was about to fall off. She wasn't afraid of the pony though. Lucky for us we were some of the first in line and were the second group on the ponies, especially since when we left after that there was a huge line. Heidi didn't want to ride on a pony. They also got to sit in the driver's seat of the fire truck and had some balloons made for them by some clowns. Research right now means that Weid has to travel to contact those taking his survey. This particular time he went to Richmond. 3 days without a dad and husband feels much longer. But hopefully this was the last time. The first day he was gone Hailey was playing on her chair like it was a slide and fell into the wall right where it sticks out. The bump looked huge! I was just glad it didn't split open. Her poor forehead already has the scar from last year, she doesn't need another one. She really didn't like me holding ice on her forehead, even with a towel between it. Luckily this one healed nicely and was much smaller the next day. One day I let the girls paint. It was a rare treat for them because it can be so messy. I found this paint on sale at Dollar Tree for half price and bought it for a special occasion. They loved it!
