BYU Homecoming weekend

BYU Homecoming was October 8 th . We wish we could have been there, just like we wish we could be at every BYU game. That weekend we had a lot of fun. Heidi's school had a few activities that we participated in that week. October 5 th was walk to school day so we did that (although it was officially postponed since there was a girl robbed at gunpoint early that morning near the VT campus but we didn't know about that until we were already walking on our way to school). They also had a movie night at the school. Friday, October 7 th we went and saw Megamind in the multipurpose room at Heidi's school. She thought that was really fun watching a movie in her school, and she loved that she saw so many people that she knew. And after the movie we went over and watched the VT Women's Volleyball game. It was a fun night! The next day was Saturday, the day of the BYU Homecoming game! We did a lot waiting for the BYU game to start since it didn't start until 1...

Park

The first week in October we put up our Halloween decorations. Thanks to my mom's Christmas present last year I have more cute painted decorations that make my house look even more festive. Cougar loved the pumpkin toy that lights up. It didn't take him long to find the button that makes it go on. One day Weid came home from school early and took Hailey to the park. She had a blast on her little date with Dad. She was being silly and would climb up part way and then hang upside down and have Dad help her. When Cougar woke up from his nap I took him there too. Our house was cold, but it was definitely warm outside. The leaves were starting to change colors and it was just beautiful at the park that day. Hailey likes to swing on her stomach because she can do it by herself. Hailey really liked helping Cougar around the park. She was having so much fun with Dad. Cougar had fun in the swing. They rode the scooter over and back on their little date (a few blocks from our h...

Conference Weekend

One good thing about conference not starting until noon is that there was plenty of time for us to go down to Home Depot for the kids project of the month (the first Saturday of every month). And as a bonus it was October 1st which was also their fire safety day and so they had other fun things going on as well. Cougar loved holding that hammer! It was so cold that day! It was by far the coldest day so far. The kid projects are usually inside so we weren't dressed for the 40 degree weather. And on top of the super cold weather, the helicopters were super difficult to hammer together so Weid did Cougar's and I did the 2 for the girls. Heidi and Hailey had a lot of fun painting pumpkins. After a few minutes they were so cold but wanted to get the whole thing painted. We now have 2 cute pumpkins decorating our front porch. We escaped the cold by hanging out in the fire truck and by eating the free hot dogs, cupcakes and cookies inside the store. We were ready to leave and ...

Shirt, nails, hair, and another birthday celebration

The last week of September was a lot of fun. Heidi was so excited because her HAE shirt came! She was laughing hysterically because it is so big. But she loves it and wore it to school the next week with a long sleeve black shirt underneath and that helped it fit better (along with it being washed). Heidi was very sad when it wasn't clean last Monday because Mondays are always HAE shirt days. Another day we did our nails. The way I get them to cut their nails is to paint them right after and it works wonders. They don't fight me if they get to have them painted. They were super excited this time because when Grandma had come she brought these stickers for the nails. So cute! Although they didn't stay on very long. Friday, September 30th, was crazy hair day at Heidi's school. She was super excited and wanted something crazy. This is what I came up with. She loved it because she thought she looked kind of like Megamind. And Hailey got something a little simil...

Lunch bunch, BYU vs. UCF

We love lunch bunch! September 20 th lunch bunch was at Marylou's house. The kids had lots of fun playing inside with the toys, and then since there were so many kids and the weather was actually really nice they also loved playing outside. They played in this little sandbox and on the trampoline and the slide and had so much fun! I like it because I get to eat good food and talk to other people. Friday, September 23rd, was the BYU vs. UCF game. Cougar was ready. He loves looking out the window! If the window is closed he will stand on the back side of the couch and watch out the window. I just think he looked so cute looking outside and being so happy. He has 5 teeth now. 3 on the bottom in the middle and one in the back on each side on the top. Heidi wore her BYU shirt to school that day and looked so cute. The kids had fun playing outside that weekend and it sure looks like Fall out there. Leaves are falling everywhere and the leaves are changing and are so beauti...

Gymnastics

A gymnastics place in Christiansburg had a free day a few weeks ago, September 17th. Justin took the girls and they loved it! Don't they look like they could be little gymnasts? It was the BYU vs. Utah game that day so Hailey wore her shirt. Unfortunately that was the worst I have ever seen BYU play, with 7 turnovers and against them of course. Halftime only down by 4, but then I'm pretty sure we didn't score in the second half and they sure did. The girls had so much fun! These are the only pictures, but lots of videos taken. They loved everything that they did and couldn't stop talking about it. Even now, a few weeks later, they talk about things they did at the gymnastics class. One day we'll be able to afford some classes for them. The pictures weren't all that great with the lighting but I took snapshots from the videos and here they are. Hailey loved doing kicks on the balance beam, and walking sideways. They've had quite a bit of practi...

Heidi's Birthday Party!

Heidi was so excited to have her first ever birthday party with friends! We planned it for an early release day, Friday, September 16 th . Since we've moved right before her birthday the last 2 years, and she was too young before that, this is the first party where she got to make invitations and invite her friends. She has had a list on the fridge for the last 6 months with the names of her Joy School friends on it and said that's who she wanted to invite. Heidi was so excited to see her cake when she got home from school! I offered a suggestion of a Hokie party. She had another idea and wanted an Elmo party. I said that was ok since we already had the game, the Elmo face for the cake (from a random thing years ago), the cups and napkins, as well as many Sesame Street friends to decorate the room with. She loved it! They played pin the nose on Elmo (even with a blindfold!), Ring around the Rosie, and asked questions to get to know Heidi better. We found out her favo...

Hokie Volleyball

We looked at the calendar and saw that there was a free volleyball game on September 9th. We decided to get dressed and go. We definitely had the cutest Hokie fans at the game! One lady at the game told me I should sell the dresses that I made for the girls. We all had fun cheering for the Hokies as they defeated American. Cougar loved clapping! He would any time he heard clapping, including when the other team scored. A girl in our row watched more of Cougar than she did the game because he was just so cute. The next day the girls went with Dad to the Lowe's workshop and built police cars. I guess Hailey wanted to be all by herself in the picture to smile. I was in Bluefield making food for the Stake Relief Society Activity. Later that night we watched BYU play a great first half against Texas, and then ended up losing 17-16. It was a very exciting game to watch, but would have been much better if we had won.

School

Heidi loves school! This is the week of Heidi's birthday. She loves to come home and finish what she didn't get to complete at school. She calls it her homework, even though they don't really have any. Hailey is a nice sister and loves to just watch Heidi. Cougar is our handsome little guy who loves to smile for the camera. He also thinks he's pretty neat these days putting his hands in his pockets. The day after Heidi's birthday was school picture day. She looked so cute. She wanted to wear her new shirt she got for her birthday. Unfortunately I got a lot better of a smile from her than the photographer did, but there's blood on her teeth in my picture from her biting her lip or something. Cougar (of course) wanted to stand by the wall and smile too. He looks pretty cute too.

Heidi is 5!

Heidi's birthday was such a fun day! Heidi was trying to have a grumpy face but she was too excited that she was 5 for that to last very long! She got a new shirt to wear that day and was so excited! Heidi wanted a pink cake on her birthday. Hailey and I found this princess at the Dollar Tree and got it for the top of her cake. She loved her pink cake and FIVE pink candles! The kids spent a little while playing together in the basement having so much fun. We all love the basement! Heidi was a lucky girl and got some fun gifts. Dad got her a Mickey coloring book, Cougar got her a princess skirt, I got her a new yellow shirt and she was even really lucky and got some Aaron candy from Aaron. As you can see, she was super excited! Hailey gave her a princess puzzle, a nice hug for Dad for such a great birthday, and some butterfly wings too. The girls are sure excited about them (I should have gotten 2) and I'm sure one of them is going to be a butterfly for Halloween. We sur...
