The Weidmans

We were pretty much in charge of the Pinewood Derby this year. There are only 4 boys in our Pack and luckily the Radford Ward contacted us and wanted to combine since they only have 5 boys. It ended up being great! We also allowed anyone else who wanted to bring a car to do so. While setting up earlier in the day Cougar had so much fun putting a car on the track and watching it go down. Then he would go run and get it and do it again. After the Pinewood Derby was done they let people just put their own cars down so Cougar lined up and watched his car go down a few times. It was a lot of fun again watching all the cars race. The other ward was in charge of refreshments and brought this cake. The girls kept asking their dad when he was going to paint his car after he decided to just stain it this year. The quarter on the back is an Indiana one. Clever, huh? Well it finally snowed here in Virginia. We were so excited and had so much fun for the day and a half that it lasted. On February 16 th we went to the Christiansburg Aquatic Center and watched the VT women's diving in the ACC Championships. It was fun and not too long so the kids were entertained the whole time. We happened to find this Hokie bird in there. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a picture with it. They also had a fish tank in there that Hailey still talks about. On the 19 th (yes, it was a Sunday) it started snowing as we were in church. It snowed the whole time and we went home and took naps and ate a little food and then headed out. It was a great family activity for us and I wasn't going to miss the only day of snow this year. The girls had a blast! They had so much fun playing with the snow and throwing it at each other (and me while I was taking a picture of Hailey!). Cougar was pretty cold and didn't like having snow falling on...

Tomorrow I will be 38 weeks, which means we are going to be having another baby quite soon. I think the doctors here just like looking at my baby because in the past few months they have come up with even more reasons to have ultrasounds. I went in the first part of February and had a different doctor measure me and she said I was measuring just a tiny bit small and that I hadn't gained enough weight. She said I didn't look even as big as I was measuring so she adjusted her measurement based on that and said I was even smaller than her first measurement and asked me to get an ultrasound. So I got an ultrasound a little over 31 weeks and baby was measuring at average size. Last Thursday I went in for an appointment and my regular doctor measured me as smaller than I was 2 weeks before. (I was 3 cm and 75% effaced so he thinks maybe that is where the baby has gone) So he had me get an ultrasound on Friday (37 weeks) and baby was measuring pretty small this time (11th%). T...

Valentine's Day was a lot of fun this year. It is never a really big deal for us but I like to make it fun for the kids so they know how much we love them. I made pink heart pancakes for breakfast. The kids loved them! I made Hailey's kind just for her and she was so excited! I got the kids dressed in Valentine colors and put up some balloons and decorations on the table. Heidi came home from school so excited with her Valentine bag. She decorated a nice rainbow around the edge at school and the teachers stapled it shut so they wouldn't get into their stuff until they were home. She had so much fun reading all the Valentines to us and telling us what kind each person in her class had picked. She had also made a wonderful heart with her hands at school that day and a footprint. What a special gift for us to always have. The weather was a little cold for the first half of February. But still not much snow. We made lots of Valentines to get ready for Valentine's Day. Unfortunately they sat on my counter for a few weeks before I finally got them mailed out. The kids had fun riding the bike down the hill. Cougar had fun watching, as long as he could just sit there and not have to move around because he does not like to be dirty. On the 11 th the girls made Valentine boxes at Lowe's. They even came with Valentines to use. They had lots of fun writing who they were to and from. That day we also went to the library because they brought the zoo animals again. Even though we've already seen all of these animals, it was still fun and exciting. They both touched all the animals and Hailey was sad when the hedgehog was prickly. Luckily I let her know the others are not and so they both also touched the chinchilla, the ferret and the giant rabbit. Cougar wouldn't touch any of them. And...

February started out with Justin taking a trip to BYU to apply for a teaching position there. We stayed plenty busy here. Flat Stanley came to visit us from Utah. Heidi was so excited to get a letter to her from her cousin, Brandon, with Flat Stanley inside. We took him to a few places around Virginia Tech campus and to a Hokie statue. We made lots of valentine's at the library and got some pizza from Pizza Hut where they had this cool painting of a Hokie bird on the wall. Just because I was by myself didn't mean we couldn't do the fun project at Home Depot that month. The girls put together and painted these cute treasure boxes. On Sunday we had a fun Super Bowl party with some friends. Everyone brought yummy food and had a great time being together. I made a football vegetable plate, some meatballs, some blue and red Jell-O helmets and footballs, and a delicious coconut football field cake. The last days of January were a lot of fun and such great weather! High 60's at the end of January, I'll take it! Although the girls kept wishing there would be some snow for them to play in. Heidi had a school spirit day on Friday, January 27 th . It was cultural awareness day. The girls were very excited to bring out their outfits that Grandma brought home for them from China a few years ago. Heidi loves dressing up for school spirit days. We went to Lowe's and made the Build-A- Saurus . Heidi made hers with the brown stickers like bones and Hailey made hers like a happy green dinosaur. They really like that the mouths open and close. We stopped by Target on the way home because we heard they had some good Hokie stuff on clearance. It was pretty good, but I couldn't get myself to pay even that much for clothes that won't really matter next year since we for sure won't be living here. On January 25 th , BYU came to Virginia Tech for basketball. It was awesome! Weid had set up going to the game way back last July when we heard BYU was coming here. I used to babysit one of the players ( ok so I was 14 and he was like 8 but boy does that make me feel old!) and my dad is their home teacher now, so we had an in for some tickets. And the day finally came for the game. We even hired a babysitter and everything. That day we, of course, had the kids dressed up too. Heidi took some pictures of us before going to the game. She's getting better, but it's hard for her to hold it still for long enough so our faces and legs get cut off sometimes. I was 29 weeks along at that point. The game was awesome! Neither team was really playing their best at the first and it was 11-1 for us after 8 minutes of the game. We sat by some really fun people.
