Sister's Day

With 3 daughters, Sister's Day has become one of our favorite days of the year.  The girls wait all summer for it to finally come on the first Sunday in August. They love their breakfast in bed!  I even bought pink mini wheats to make it a special day for them.  Hailey was just starting to wake up so I had to wake Heidi up, and then she wanted to eat it in her bed even though she's never slept in there.  We had borrowed a mattress so that the Lithuanian girls could each have their own room downstairs, and since they never made it here Heidi wanted her Sister's Day breakfast in her own bed. These 3 are lucky to have each other, and I'm so lucky to have them! They wanted to wear their matching dresses on Sister's Day. We got them a few presents to celebrate.  Heidi and Hailey were happy to help Brynlee open her present.  She really likes her new princess maracas. These girls got a few more gifts because we knew they would really app...

July iPad pictures

I took a few pictures from my iPad during July. The kids love playing at Grandma and Papa's house while we mow the lawn or do other yard work.  It's amazing how much fun they have with toys they haven't seen in a while. Brynlee loves to hang out with me.  A lot.  I just love her sweet face. During dance class, Brynlee plays with the shoes that the dance girls have to leave there.  This girl loves shoes!

World Folkfest Week

We were supposed to go pick up our visitors from Lithuania for the Springville World Folkfest right after the girls' dance performance, but learned that day that they had only gotten so far as Warsaw, Poland.  From what we heard, it sounds as if their travel agent took their money and then only booked them as far as Poland and that's it.  And that they had to have their families wire them money so they could ride a train back home and never got to come here at all.  We were very sad that we weren't going to get to have them stay with us and have our vacation at home and incredibly sad for them and what happened.  So I had an almost completely empty week and kids who were sad their friends (which we never got to meet) weren't going to stay with us.  The first night the girls slept on the floor in Cougar's room because that's what they were going to do and still wanted to.  We made the best of it and went to a couple of events at the Highland Fling. We w...

Summer Dance

Heidi and Hailey took a ballet class during the Summer.  They loved wearing their leotards every Monday and going to their ballet class together. Most times these two are the best of friends.  Hailey got to wear her leotard with the tutu so Heidi got to wear a frilly skirt too for the last day of class where parents got to come in the room and watch. We were some of the first people there and the teacher put on music that they could dance to while we waited for the others to come and for class to start.  Then they did most of a normal class while we could watch and be in the room.  They started off by showing the positions that they had learned. They skipped and galloped around the room and held poses when the music stopped.  Brynlee was making the funniest face that week.  She did this often, which was really funny and cute. Then they got in a circle and continued to learn about turnout and basic bending and stretching.  I reall...

Library Party

The Summer Reading program here was pretty great with good prizes and then a party on July 26th.  You turned in your reading log and they gave you a ticket to the party, and then hole punched each thing as you did it to make sure each person did each thing just once.  One of Hailey's favorite things was looking at the shape of the hole punch.  I think there was a star, a bow (or a candy, depending on who you ask), a leaf, a circle, and two other ones we can't remember. We started at the bounce house.  We were the second group in it and I'm glad because people who got there later had to wait a long time for their turn.  They got a 3 minute turn and had a blast!  Heidi was very helpful making sure Cougar was able to get around in there and have fun too. Then we went over to the hot dog booth.  Hailey ate just the hot dog with some ketchup because she's allergic to the bun.  Heidi ate just the bun because she doesn't really like hot dogs....

Pioneer Day

It's still kind of strange to me to have another holiday in July, but I guess I'll get used to it.  Our neighborhood had a fun breakfast and then had supplies to decorate the kids' bikes for a parade. We were all ready in our Days of '47 attire.  We were the only ones dressed up this year, but I'm sure next year other people will do the same.  A lot of people said that they should have worn their cowboy boots too. They had a fun craft table where the girls made these fun flags with their hands, and they had this nice backdrop set up to take pictures. These kids were so happy to have their bikes all decorated for the parade. There were quite a few kids for the parade, but it took off really fast and left a lot of kids behind.  Cougar was frustrated that he couldn't go fast enough, so I just brought him back and then Heidi was so far behind that someone from our ward picked her up in a Jeep and put her bike in the back.  Somehow Hailey stayed with...

A Wedding and more dinners

Our friend, Sipho, got married on July 20th.  We got a babysitter and went.  The kids were happy to have Kelsey watch them and I was glad that Brynlee slept the whole time to make it easier for her. The kids had a great time each taking a picture of us.  Even Cougar took one, actually two because the first one he didn't quite get Justin's head in the picture.  I am pretty sure this is the picture that Heidi took. Later we took the older kids to Heather's while we took Brynlee to the wedding dinner.  We probably could have taken them but we thought it was going to be an inside event and didn't know how many spots they had planned on for us.  The dinner was catered by Rodizio Grill and it was delicious.  Brynlee really liked my turkey wrapped in bacon and took it from me. Here are Sipho and Natalie dancing.  We are so happy for them! The tent was decorated beautifully with these poof balls hanging around everywhere.  They...
