Go Away Snow!!!

The last week of January they were supposed to pour our driveway.  Justin was in Grand Junction doing research and it snowed quite a bit here.  Why does it keep snowing this year?  I just want to move into my house! Instead of a driveway we got a good 6 inches of snow.  They were supposed to pour the day before this when the weather was great and it was really warm.  Not sure what happened. While shoveling the porch at the Weidman's where we're living, I found these cute bird tracks.  I hoped that the bird flew away but about a week later there was a dead bird on the porch.  Not sure if it's the same one or not. This is my kitchen that I couldn't use yet because of the snow.  The pantry is at least 10 feet long (I measured using myself). This is the master bath with jetted tub. This is my side of the master closet, the hole to the hall closet, and the closet near the front entry. This is our front entry and the stairs....

Blueberry pancakes, 100 days, and birthdays

January 28th was a busy day for us. It was National Blueberry Pancake Day!  Hailey took this picture and then told me that she no longer likes blueberries in her pancakes.  Good thing I hadn't cooked them all yet and was able to make her plenty of plain ones. She helped me make some of her kind of chocolate cupcakes to take to the family party, a new tradition that we're starting this year celebrating birthdays for the whole month (kind of?) instead of individual celebrations since our family is getting bigger. Heidi had her 100th day of school!  She got to make this shirt at school.  She took 100 smarties for her 100 things.  Heidi got to bring home the class book that they worked on for a few months.  They started in October so their book has a Halloween theme.  She was very excited to show me all the words that she got to write in the book, as well as a picture she drew. A new outfit from my shopping in California.  The gir...

Our New Ward

The last weekend in January we decided that we would start going to our new ward, since it should be any day that our driveway is poured and we can move into our house. Hailey was trying very hard to be grumpy, but she easily cracks when you tell her not to smile.  She couldn't keep that smile hidden any longer. The snow sculpture that weekend was one of our favorites, especially since Heidi's favorite princess is Ariel. I wore one of my new shirts to our new ward.  I finally felt like we were where we were supposed to be after going to that ward.  More people talked to me that one day at church than in the whole 8 months living in Provo.  Finally, I just might feel at home here in Utah.

Sunny San Diego

The weather in January was terrible for trying to pour a driveway.  We had plans to go to San Diego that weekend for a while, since Weid needs to travel to certain companies across the country to gather info for a class he will be teaching next Fall.  He was advised to take me on this trip as a getaway for us.  But since we couldn't live in our house, our plans of having Jamie stay at our new house with the kids didn't work.  Luckily my mom said they could stay with her and they would drive Heidi to school from there. Brynlee went with us, since she gets 99% of her food from me still.  She is a happy girl and did great!  She does not seem to mind her car seat, and has had lots of practice in it driving Heidi to and from school. *The last couple hours of the drive we were listening to the BYU basketball game against Saint Mary's.  It was great listening for the drive, but would have been better if our small victory celebration would not have been...

Fun inside and goodbye Mindy

With the weather being so cold, we had to find ways to keep entertained inside. One night I told the girls to go get their pajamas on.  Heidi came back like this.  Silly girl!  They also found this table runner thing and decided it was a two person bib.  Then they had to take it off because they were running and so it was choking them.  Cougar liked to pretend it was a bib. We went out to eat at Tucanos with the Skeens to celebrate my birthday, Tyson's birthday, and Natalie's retirement so she can stay home with her 3 girls. I love when these two want to match!  Best friends. Brynlee looked so cute ready for church.  She is getting very brave and just may walk before she crawls.  I like her in the hat, but Brynlee didn't like it very much. Some other random things that happened:  Heidi got her class picture, Mindy left to study abroad in Spain, snow is melting off the roof and making icicles on the bushes, and I saw...

House cleaning and cold weather

Well, our plans to be in our new house by Christmas didn't work, and it was clear that we weren't going to make it for my birthday either.  We aimed for the next weekend.  The inside was finished except for the cleaning that we needed to do and the painters to come retouch some things.  We just needed the weather to cooperate so that we could pour our driveway.  Sadly, that didn't happen. We cleaned on January 7th.  My mom, Mindy, and Jamie came and helped me clean the house of mostly dust from the construction of it, as well as the windows and I vacuumed the carpets with the shop vac.  They were extremely helpful dusting all the cabinets, the baseboards and everything.  With about 3000 square feet of finished house, their help was definitely needed and appreciated.  This is Brynlee's room, Cougar's room, and how the closet looks in each of their rooms. The kids were good and helped dust some things, but mostly watched shows.  Brynle...

Partying in the New Year

We stayed up until midnight to celebrate the new year.  We weren't quite sure if we were going to make it, but some Phase 10 Turbo (invented by Evan in which you flip a coin to see if you go ahead 1 or 2 phases after each completed phase) kept us awake.  As well as some potato chips and sparkling cider. I brought out a silly nose cup, just like Justin's mom would do if she were here.  And that day Justin's present from Jason arrived, so he wore it. These two girls had fun together.  Brynlee and Quinn kept each other company over the break.  Brynlee is 4 months older than Quinn, but they're like the same height.  Brynlee taught Quinn how to sit up just by sitting by her quite often and Quinn taught Brynlee how to eat food from a spoon by showing how expertly she does that.  Quinn is a normal baby and puts everything in her mouth, even Brynlee's foot. The other kids put on a dance party.  They are very creative.  They got Hei...

End of 2012

2012 was a great year.  Brynlee was born, Justin graduated with a PhD, we moved to Utah, our house was almost finished and we have a good job.  We are very blessed. Saturday night someone from the primary called and said they were having cupcakes the next day at church.  I was glad they called because they have given food before with no notice and it is very frustrating since she can't have most things.  A few weeks before I had found this cupcake holder in Walmart while browsing and it came in very handy.  She was so happy to have "her kind" of cupcake! The snow sculpture that week was awesome!  The guy was out there finishing it when I took this picture.  There were these four cars in a wreck on the phone pole with a beer bottle next to it that said "don't drink and drive".  The car on the far end was Herbie.  This guy is so talented! The days after Christmas were busy at our house.  The counter tops and carpet were put in...
