The Weidmans

 Friday, May 11th was the Graduate School Graduation. Bright and early at 8:30 so we were in our seats at 8:00.  I was quite proud of myself for getting the 5 of us there that early all by myself.  On the way walking in I was passed by a group of about 10 adults and 1 child about Cougar's size.  They offered me help but said I didn't look like I needed it.  One lady said that she was amazed because they barely made it there with just the 1 kid and all the adults.  Heidi was a good helper and held Brynlee so I could get us all situated.  They sat in their seats really well for a long time, especially good until they saw Dad get hooded.  Then as they started to do the Masters students (after being in their seats for almost 2 hours) they got a little restless.  We were up high so we weren't bothering anyone and I let the kids sit at the bottom of the stairs.  They also climbed all the way to the top of the stairs away from all the peop...

Over the last 8 months or so the kids have done and said some funny things that I've written down.  We're getting ready to move so I thought I'd put them on here so I could throw the paper away and not worry about losing it.  Some might have been mentioned in other posts, but they're on my paper so I wrote them here just in case I forgot them at the time. Heidi and Hailey like to tell me, "Mom, look at me with your own eyes."  That's usually after they tell me to look at them and I don't respond right away. Hailey *We were reading from the scriptures where she repeats after me and I told her she did a good job on all the really big words and she said, "I like those big words." *One time she was sent to time out on the stairs and told to think about what she did wrong.  She sat on the stairs and then said, "I'm not going to think about anything! EVER!" *I told her to get her jammies and she said, "Yes, sir Mom...

15 days after Hailey's birthday, I finally had her party.  She was beyond excited! She wanted a Doc McStuffins party.  I let her invite 4 friends because she was turning 4.  So she decided to invite the 4 other kids in her primary class but Charlotte couldn't come.  There are 10 kids at church her age but they split them into two classes so she just invited those in her class.  Lucky for me there was an invitation on the Disney Jr. website and I just had to add the information. She was so happy that I made a pink Doc McStuffins cake for her party.  She loves it when everyone eats her kind of cake. We started with a Doc McStuffins coloring page from Disney Jr. ready for them to color.  It worked out really well while the kids were coming.  We had the goody bags ready for the end of the party.  They had some stickers and suckers in them just like you might get at the doctor.  And Brynlee looked so cute in her BYU clothes I jus...

 We have been blessed with such sweet children. Brynlee is a good baby.  She is a pretty happy girl, and looking so cute ready for church at just over 6 weeks old.  I think she's so cute yawning too.  And she doesn't seem to mind tummy time as long as she's not too tired. Cougar is such a nice boy.  He loves to clean up.  He especially loves to help unload the dishwasher.  And he just loves to say "cheese" if you point the camera his direction. Heidi was part of the Jump Rope for Heart at school and got a jump rope and water bottle for her donations she received.  They didn't do a special event for it, they just had jump rope be a part of their PE activities that week in school.  And Brynlee is getting such a strong little neck!  I love when she lays on my chest and just looks up at me with her big eyes.  On Saturday, May 5th, we had a fun day with the kid project and then seeing LOTS of trucks. We started off at Home Depot while Justin went to help someone move.  They built planter boxes and they even got a free plant with it.  Unfortunately the plants never made it into the ground and didn't last very long.  Brynlee was crying while I was helping them build their things, so I was going super fast.  As soon as I was done she stopped.  I don't think anyone but me really noticed anyways with all that hammering going on.  That's probably the first time she really cried when we were out somewhere.  She is a pretty good little girl. Then we headed downtown, where I thought all the trucks were going to be.  We stopped and I fed Brynlee and then we got out and walked around and realized it was just the farmer's market and a few other little tents.  So we packed up and went and picked Justin up so he could join us to see the trucks and...

 By the last day in April the pool was getting a little warmer. With their swim shirts on, they don't seem to mind the cold for a little while.  Except Cougar.  He doesn't like the pool because it's still too cold.  He mostly watches. The first Wednesday of every month there is usually a craft night at the library and we go because it fills up the time while Dad is at Cub Scouts.  For the first time in a while, it was just me and my kids with Miss Sarah.  Nobody else showed up!  I guess it was fine, except she doesn't talk much even when I ask questions so it's kind of awkward.  They made beautiful cards for Mother's Day.  Hailey told me not to look and hurried and put hers in the envelope.  Cougar was in heaven opening the markers.  Each time he would pull the cap off he would say "Whoa!"  It was very cute.  Heidi didn't want me to see hers either, but I needed to help her make the card smaller so it would fit in...

That week was pretty busy. It ended with another school spirit day.  It was mismatch day.  Heidi looked awesome!  Her hair and clothes were picked and done by her dad.  She came home one day saying she was the purple setting panther and had to stand up during the assembly. (Their mascot is a purple panther so it kind of makes sense.) We had no idea what that meant until this paper came home with her later on, which was displayed at the school all that month.  We are so proud of our Precedent Setting Panther!  She is a great girl!  I think she was randomly wearing that same shirt again.  Kind of crazy. Justin took the girls to the dentist for the first time that day.  They went to Kool Smiles and LOVED it!  Neither of them had cavities.  They did x-rays for Heidi and then pretended to do them for Hailey because she was so excited to do it and hopped right up in the x-ray chair.  I guess the waiting room was pretty fun t...

 Thursday, April 26th was National Pretzel Day! We like to celebrate, so I made some pretzels and we had a great day!  And when I make them, even Hailey can have them so everyone is happy.  I made the ones I ate with cinnamon and sugar and then dipped them in the new milk chocolate cream cheese that I got practically free with a coupon and it was delicious!  It is so nice to have Heidi read books to the other kids.  She is a great reader and it helps me get more done in the day.  It also helps that Brynlee is such a good baby.  She takes one pretty long nap each day, along with other shorter naps and sleeps through the night most times. Justin went to an awards night that night where he was given the award of Exemplary Graduate Student in Building Construction.  He has worked so hard and it is nice to know that others have noticed it too.  So proud of this handsome man!

 Wednesday, April 25th was the Fun Run at Heidi's school.  It was supposed to be on the 26th but it was going to rain that day so they moved it up a day. Heidi was so excited!  And super excited we were there to watch her.  Surprisingly there weren't that many parents there.  It might have been because they changed the day and the new time was earlier in the day since it was an early release day, but it worked well for us.  Heidi was in the back since they started with the older kids and then the kindergarteners were last to go.  They had green duck tape that they made bracelets out of and then they got marks each time they went around.  It was a fundraiser and we pledged to give a quarter for each lap she did. The Hokie Bird even showed up!  Hailey was so excited and went right over and gave a big hug.  Heidi likes him but ran right on by when he was waiting there.  I told Cougar to go give him a high 5 and he looked at me...
